The Path To Destruction

I recently watched a video entitled “God In America”. The video was the first in a series produced by PBS in 2010. One of the people in the video was a professor of religion at Boston University. During the video, he said, “Even contemporary Christians now, even many evangelicals, they just don’t believe in sin anymore.” And I thought how true is that statement!! Many people who claim to be Christians today don’t want to talk about “sin” and they don’t. However, the Bible says in Psalm 5:4, “For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.” It is sin that destroys our lives and ruins our relationship with God. In Isaiah 59:1,2 – the Bible says, “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” In the book of Jeremiah we read how God sent the prophet ...

Experiencing God's Best

The Apostle John writes in 1 John 1:1-4, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life — the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us — that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” In an article written in 1948, A. W. Pink, an evangelist in England, wrote about what it means to truly experience the best that God has to offer, and to TRULY have fellowship with Him and with His Son, Jesus Christ. He wrote, “We mean for the Christian to have daily communion with God, to walk in the light of His countenance. It is for His Word to be sweet unto our taste, ligh...

When The Roof Caves In...

It was a cold and wintry day in January 1986, and I was standing behind the counter of a popular fast-food restaurant, flipping hamburgers for the many hungry customers who would soon be cramming their way up to the order line. Before we were expecting our mass of hungry customers, my father walked in and up to the counter. He wasn't there to order. He said; "Joshua, I hope you like your Wendy's uniform, because right now that is all the clothing you own. Our house just burned to the ground!" Not exactly something you want to hear everyday. I come from a large family of seven children. I am the second oldest. For the past two years we had been living in a handmade log cabin in the central part of Georgia. We had no electricity or indoor plumbing. Our only "running" water was when we "ran" down to the corner store to fill our five gallon water jugs. We had been using a pot-bellied stove for heating and cooking, and an ice chest to store our food. ...

Do You KNOW Him?

One of the saddest verses in the Bible is found in John 1:10. It say, "He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him." Jesus Christ came to this world - the world He created and loved enough to die for, yet just as in today's world, the same was true when Jesus walked on the face of this earth - most people didn't know Him, and many hated and disliked Him. The greatest privilege we have as Christians is the blessing and honor of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The more we spend time getting to KNOW Him, the better our lives will become. Peter writes in 2 Peter 1:2 - 8, "May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them yo...
